Royal Worcester - Fiesta Pattern

This pattern consists of musical instruments, fruit, vegetables, and leaves in shades of green. We have catalogued eight unique decals that were used for this pattern. In many cases, three different decals were used to decorate a coddler. However, we also have seen examples with two decals, and there is no reason to believe that there are Fiesta coddlers with three of the same decal (though we have not yet seen one). It is very possible that every unique combination of three decals was manufactured and released by Royal Worcester. We have listed below those combinations that we have seen.

Decal D-1 Decal D-2 Decal D-3

Fiesta Decal Combinations

In order to disambiguate identification of Fiesta decal combinations, we have given "names" to each decal pattern (D-1, D-2, ..., D-8). Those names are our own, as is the ordering schema. We don't know how Royal Worcester designers identified or ordered the decals.

To identify a the decal combination of a Fiesta coddler, follow the following steps:

  1. Find the decal number for each picture on the coddler by comparing them to the images above.
  2. Stand the coddler upright such that the picture with the lowest decal number is facing you. D-1 is the lowest decal number, D-2 is next, and so on up to D-6. Unless the coddler has two matching pictures, you should never be starting with a D-7 or D-8 picture first. The decal number of the picture facing you is the first in the three-decal combination. In the case of multiples of the same decal being the lowest decal number, start with the first one.
  3. Rotate the coddler clockwise 120 degrees. The picture that was to the right of your first decal should be facing you. The decal number of this picture is the second of the combination.
  4. Turn the coddler another 120 degrees. The picture that was to the left of the first decal should now be facing you. The decal number of this decal is the third of the combination.

To clarify: a coddler with decals D-1, D-3, and D-5 could be either a "D-1, D-3, D-5" or a "D-1, D-5, D-3" combination. Those would be two distinct coddler variations.

As always, the Royal Worcester craftsmen did not always place the decals in the same alignment vertically from one example to the next. There are any number of variations of how the decal is positioned relative to the pictures above. We're not going to try to catalogue the infinite number of variations of these.
